Who would benefit from private Yoga Therapy?
The vast, ancient teachings of Yoga hold something for everyone. Wherever you are in your journey and understanding about life, Yoga can take you farther and deeper and give you tools to expand beyond your wildest dreams. Yoga Therapy is for anyone who wants to feel better inside their body, attain emotional freedom, experience an integrated, balanced life and connect deeply to their Soul. Clients range in age from 8-76. We are never too old or too young to affect positive change for ourselves.
Do I have to practice yoga or be flexible to do this?
Absolutely not. Some clients are in great physical condition and some are in failing health. The practices of Yoga meet us where we are today. For some this is through movement, for others it is through more internal inquiry and meditation.
I’m not interested in psychotherapy…is that what this is?
Jennie brings an understanding of Western psychotherapy filtered through the lens of spiritual philosphy to her work in Yoga Therapy. By looking at where a client experiences suffering and the blocks in their energetic and physical bodies, she can direct them in a practice of the aspects of Yoga that would be most beneficial at this time. By gently releasing physical, mental, and energetic blocks, and through cultivating a deeper understanding of one's true nature, clients reclaim their abundant life force, create meaning for their lives and consciously express their fullest, most authentic selves.
How long does this process take?
For some people, one session brings renewal, for others it is a joyful, ongoing process.
What can I expect from a private Yoga Therapy session?
First Jennie listens compassionately to what you are struggling with. Then she intuits the right course of action, mind and body practices to help you feel relief, healing and freedom.
The body is a storage depot for all the things we have experienced and felt over the course of our lives. Our 'biography becomes our biology' as they say. From small discomforts to chronic pain, the body calls us to awakening, to look inward to misunderstandings and emotions from the past which keep us from full capacity living in the present. Often in a Transformative Yoga Therapy session, we will enter through simple yoga movements and intentional breathing exercises to invite response and release on the physical level. When the body’s natural wisdom is accessed, emotional release often occurs and healing begins at a deeper level than the rational, linear mind can reach. Challenges, both physical and mental, become opportunities to remember our true Self and reclaim our physical vibrancy and health.
